...Fast forward to today...
I'm a Junior in college and in desperate need to save money. Between school bills, books, food, phone bill, car repairs, gas, etc., saving money is really hard. This is when couponing came to the forefront of my mind, paired with TLCs Extreme Couponing site on TLC.
How did I begin.....
I began on the summer of my Sophomore year. I had fallen and hurt my ankle and could not walk much less work. I was on a work study program and because I could not work all my bill form March to May came out of my pocket. That money was suppossed to be my summer school money. Then My car was out of commission and I could not pay for it to be repaired. It all worked out in the end, but I realized living without some cushion for the unexpected is not the way I wanted to go through school. That stress associated with college finances I wanted less of. When I got home I was looking online and saw the Extreme Couponers page saw where all the couponers had interview questions and saw that they had blogs and websites. This open up the possibilities, through couponing.
I have links to my favorite places (so far) below. Now you must, as with anything, sift to find the meat and spit out the bones. Not because all of the ideas are bad, but some just wont work with me and my situation.

Like in my case, I like the popular method for couponing the Binder method (look at Southern Savers for other methods) but I will still do the work of picking out the coupons before going to the store and holding them separate. I will still bring the binder to the store, why?.....the unadvertised deals! Things that are on clearance at the store or deals that are just in your specific store. I cannot get those deals and/or freebies if my binder is home, but I will also not wander around the store without having a game plan. I need time away from the store to plan and to figure out how I can roll over deals in some stores. (that's for another time).
Why did I make this blog?
My Favorite Stores
Whatever is cheapest!!!!
Its too simple an answer I know, so I'll specify by time periods at college and at home.
My most common since I a home from college, has been
Walgreens: for it's RRs, Sometimes you can rollover deals( making many transactions at one store) using them and your coupons, you can save a lot of money. Plus, They have their own monthly coupon book and there are coupons in their ads.
CVS: They have Extra Care Bucks and like walgreen you can save using these with coupons, They have a loyalty card and for beginners CVS is easier to learn " Rolling". They also, give coupons through their coupon center machine, and many clubs to join.

and...
Publix: for its BOGO sale, using coupon for something that is already 50% off...that's a big deal. There are so many ways to save with their BOGOs, then the green and yellow fliers with additional savings and coupons inside, then to top it off their clubs give you coupons too, not to mention your Upromise cards which can pay you back if your in college (or save for when your little one go to college), save you on you online shopping trips and more.
I haven't found out as far as back at college, but I'll let you know as soon as I get back to school. There are many stores to choose from so we will see from CVS, to Bravos, Aldi's, Save-a-lot,
Dollar General, Dollar Tree, Walmart and Winn-Dixie. So I am sure there will be some. So this page will be updated soon.
This is a blog designed to teach couponing basics and make couponing easier for college students ( anyone can use it you don't have to be in college).
What do I want from you?
I want you to save money, lots of it. So that you can pay off school, save for after school and eat something besides ramen every night. I want you to subscribe and comment. I want to know what do you want to see more of or less of; I'm all ears. If there is something you love, let me know. Also, Invite others; they need to save too. They need that lifestyle you are able to enjoy because you started couponing. I heard that there is a statistic that couponers enjoy more luxury items...why do I think that is true? You save money, pay off debt, put some away, to buy that boat you have always wanted or that family vacation, or even pay off a whole semester of classes.
How can this make things easier for college students?
How can this make things easier for college students?
Well, I'm a college junior myself and know that there is more to saving money than fast food, Ramen Noodles and Easy Mac. Couponing will be something you will actually find useful for the rest of your life. Why? Companies send coupons out for all demographics. Diapers for parents, Home supplies and food for all and more. It's time college students eat some real food for a change, be less stressful about money and actually have some to top it all off.
